In fact, the people who have anorexia don't even realise how demaged and sickly thin they become. They can look in the mirror, and they will see a fat person looking back at them. They usually have a twisted body image.
How long has it been observed?
The anorexia disturbance was first time discovered by an English physician called Richard Morton in 17th century.
However, the amount of people with anorexia still increases because of social media such as facebook, instagram and tumblr which promote the thin role model of happy and beautiful teenage. This especially appears to the youngest group because they are active users of social media. That's the main reason we have seen a rapidly increase in eating disorders amongst younger boys and girl between the ages of 12-25

Who does the problem refer to?
The problem refers (usually) to young girls and boys, who goes to the internet to recieve information on how to get the "ideal body." They are often insecure and want to get inspiration and tips on how to lose weight. The pro- ana pages show pictures and give information/ support to quickly lose weight. They often say quotes like "fat is ugly" and "thin is in". That is why teenagers are attracted to pages like this. The pro- ana pages has an overwhelmingly female readership and are frequently the only means of support available to socially isolated anorexics They are insecure and seek validation from other people who struggle with the same confidence issues. The groups writing the webpages are usually small, vulnerable and partly hidden.
What can we find on these pages?
According to wikipedia, members of such support groups may:

- Share crash dieting techniques and recipes (67% of sites in a 2006 survey, rising to 83% in a 2010 survey).
- Coach each other on using socially acceptable pretexts for refusing food, such as veganism (which is notably more prevalent in the eating-disordered in general).
- Compete with each other at losing weight, or fast together in displays of solidarity.
- Commiserate with one another after breaking fast or binging.
- Advise on how to best induce vomiting, and on using laxatives and emetics.
- Give tips on hiding weight loss from parents and doctors.
